Lake Naivasha 2 night road package

Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake in Kenya, lying North West of Nairobi, outside the town of Naivasha. It is part of the Great Rift Valley. The name derives from the local Maasai name Nai’posha, meaning “rough water”. The lake is home to a variety of types of wildlife including over 400 different species of bird and a sizeable population of hippos.
Between 1937 and 1950 the lake was used as a landing place for flying boats on the Imperial Airways passenger and mail route from Southampton in Britain to South Africa. It linked Kisumu and Nairobi. Joy Adamson, the author of Born Free, lived on the shores of the lake in the mid-1960s. On the shores of the lake is the Djinn Palace, which gained notoriety in the Happy Valley days between the two world wars. It now forms part of the Oserian flower farm.
DAY 1- LAKE NAIVASHA
Pick up from designated pick up point, pack and leave for Lake Naivasha, about an hour away, just in time for lunch at Camp. After pitching our tents at our lakeside campsite, we set out on an optional hiking/ biking trip to the nearby Hells Gate National Park. Better part of the afternoon is spent inside the park with a hike into the gorge where the famous movie ‘Tomb Raider’ was shot, hiking and biking within the territories of wild animals and enjoying the spectacular scenery. We head back to Camp for dinner & overnight. Alternatively, just sit back and take in the scenery at Camp.

DAY 2- LAKE NAIVASHA
Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake, fringed by thick papyrus. The lake is almost 13kms across, but its waters are shallow with an average depth of five meters. Therefore, after breakfast, the group engages in an optional boating activity into the magnificent Lake to spot a variety of bird species and schools of Hippos swimming in the lake.
The team then returns to camp for lunch and can either choose to visit Elsamare, home of the legendary George and Joy Adamson of the Born Free Movie fame for high tea & video or relax at camp and enjoy brilliant bird watching opportunities at camp.
An optional day trip to Lake Nakuru National Park can also be organized on this day for those who don’t want to spend better part of the day at camp.
